Gender Reveal Oreo Pops!

Friday, July 24, 2015

My friend found this adorable pin that featured pink and blue Oreo pops, and wanted me to create my own version of them for her gender reveal party! They came out super cute and were actually pretty easy to make...of course the best part--they were totally yummy. You know I love to share 'Pinterest wins' because anyone who knows me, knows I am not 'one' with the kitchen!

Because there is already a super detailed tutorial from LULU THE BAKER [with amazing photos]...I've linked that right HERE. In this post, she is creating Christmas ones, but there is also THIS post, where she creates the blue and pink ones [the Christmas one is more detailed]. What's cool about these, is you can really make them for any occasion as the candy wafers come in many colors and I'm sure you can dye them too. :]

I found my candy wafers and the sticks at AC MOORE. I'm sure you can find them at Michael's and Hobby Lobby as well. I followed the directions on the package for melting in my microwave and it was pretty simple! I used both bags of the wafers and about two packages of Oreos... I may or may not have eaten some of them in the process of making these cuties... ;] I got a total of 40 Oreo pops, which was perfect because the sticks came in a bag of 50.

I could not for the life of me find your basic, white sprinkles. But I actually love the way these pretty sugar ones look. They are the Wilton brand and I found them at Target.

The one difference I notice with mine versus the one from the blog I linked above is, I didn't 'dip' mine, I spread the candy on so it has a different texture. Also, one thing to note is that if the candy begins to get kind of hard and thick because it's sitting in the bowl waiting to be used, just pop it back into the microwave and it'll be easier to spread on.

I'm super happy with how they turned about and so was my sweet friend and her guests. Hope this is something you can try for special occasion you have coming up. :]
